Vision Consulting Supports The Asian Awards
This year, Vision Consulting were delighted to support The Asian Awards and I was honoured to present an award to Arjun Waney OBE for Philanthropist of the Year.
The Asian Awards returned for it’s 9th year on Friday 12th April 2019 at Grosvenor House, Mayfair, a pioneering event, which celebrates the world’s most talented and inspirational individuals. It was important for us to support The Asian Awards as it is the only pan-Asian platform which recognises achievements from all walks of life including philanthropy, business, entertainment, sport, music and inspirational role models.
The event was hosted by British comedian, actor and broadcaster Sanjeev Bhaskar OBE and attended by politicians, dignitaries, celebrities, business leaders and high net worth individuals.
On behalf of Vision Consulting, I presented Arjun Waney OBE with the award for Philanthropist of Year. It was an honour to recognise Arjun’s selfless efforts and his passion to help improve the quality of life of those in need.
“This is the real award I wanted, this is for my philanthropy business” – Arjun Waney OBE
Arjun Waney OBE began his career and earned outstanding success in investment management and the retail business with Pier 1 Imports Inc in the US, and is now Chairman, Managing Director and Principal shareholder of Argent Fund Management Limited. His Midas touch in the restaurant business started with the highly acclaimed Japanese brands Zuma, Roka and Coya, which have gone on to achieve remarkable success.

In 2001, Arjun founded the Savitri Waney Charitable Trust to make a difference to those living in poverty, naming the trust in memory of his late mother.
“The Savitri Trust works with some of the poorest rural communities across the world, delivering high impact, innovative solutions with compassion. Project work is directed across three main areas; curable blindness, palliative care and environment and livelihoods.” – The Arts Club
Arjun led the Trust in donating over £8 million to carefully selected charitable causes. The most ambitious programme involves ending blindness in Bihar, one of India’s most deprived states where an estimated 2.4 million people suffer with cataracts. The Trust has funded over 250,000 cataract surgeries and most recently, a new eye hospital.
I must meet hundreds of new people every year from all walks of life. Arjun Waney certainly left a lasting impression with me due to his charitable work, especially as I have close relatives who suffer from a degenerative sight disease which has left one of them blind.
I asked Mr Waney why he chose to focus his charitable work on people with sight problems and he gave me a very simple but an incredibly indelible reply
“If someone loses a limb they can still manage to some degree but try closing your eyes for 3 seconds and see what you can do”.
Arjun’s selfless efforts and dedication in giving aid and care has allowed him to be recognised as Philanthropist of the Year.
On behalf of Vision Consulting I would like to thank The Asian Awards and congratulate all winners for their inspirational work and achievements.
